Super Bowl...no biggy to me, I am not a football fan. My son, on his way out the door to a party mentioned, "I hope they have food there."
My partner (aka x-husband/new lover), said, "Don't worry there will be food. The women work all day cooking."
Then Loch, my son replied, "Mom doesn't."
HOW APPROPO! Not only don't I cook for Super Bowl, I don't participate..(as you see, I am on the computer blogging instead.)
I have occasionally been noted to watch the half time entertainment, but "The Who" doesn't trip my trigger anymore than the game. I know, I grew up in that era and should be overjoyed to watch "The Who" but you must now get SOME idea of what makes me tick since I don't like football. I don't belong with the normals...I prefer the abnormals....the artists, musicians and actors.
Friday, I had a meltdown. I hadn't painted in the studio for 4 days. I was back to 'normal' income, which is dog grooming, and because of that, I can't get to the studio since I have to go home and feed the troupes plus involve myself in any other side venture I participate in (yoga, zumba). I told John (the partner), through my tears, that I couldn't be Woman of the year because I was really an artist, and right now, a frustrated one! It was very mary Tyler Moore-ish. aka Laura Petri
We formulated a compromise and Sunday, today, was supposed to be my day for real quality, quiet time painting! But instead.....
I have spent all day wrestling cigarette-smoke-grimed antiques that I received FREE form a friend who is a realtor who said, "Everything left in the house will be tossed, so let's go get it!" I created my karma. I was hoping to spend the day in the studio working on the latest painting, but instead, I was washing, scrubbing, polishing, and pricing estate sale 'junk' (?) Someone will buy some of it. I have an antique store, you see.
The store has finally gotten under control and was looking rather artsy as opposed to cluttered and junky, and I was real proud. Yep, real proud. Then I got the call for estate left overs. Now I have to find SOMEPLACE to put all this stuff until the tourists, (God love 'em), rally forth to take it all away. I really wanted to get away from antiques and more into the funky and the arty, but a scavenger is a scavenger. I inherited the curse from my parents.
My Mom's philosophy: Don't throw anything out. (She was a kindergarten teacher utilizing every bit of recycled goods we could en mass for art projects in class).
My Dad's philosophy: How can you pass up boxes of junk at auction when their only .50? (He discovered auctions after retirement).
Monday: back to the shop to find a nook and cranny for all freebies, and then I promise myself, back to the studio to paint!!!

Gone too long
Wow,
Time has flown since Dec. 26, 2009, my last blog. I can't say that I have been overwhelmed with work, just taking a step back to survey the world, I guess.
Always continuing to push painting. I get about 45 minutes to an hour to paint these days. I want 4-8. There is always something that pulls me away from what I think will be my final destination, which is my art. Need less distraction and more discipline. Work on that, Nancy, won't you? Sure Nanc, I'm on it!

Happy Holidays
Christmas has come and gone, and with it, a longing to MOVE on, from me. I get very sentimental at the holiday time, but the day it is done, I am ready to conquer the world! I will be posting photos of my latest art endeavor, but for now, I am working on my son's sticky computer in Milwaukee at his new home, so I can not download a photo for you.
I am very excited about working with the new fabric paint medium, and look forward to sharing all the challenges and victories within it's use.
But for now, have a very Happy New Year. 2110 is going to be the BIG CREATIVE YEAR for me. I have the knowing in my bones. Stay warm!

Post Snow
Well, yes sir-ee, we had the snow. And that would be fine, give us much to talk about, but with it, we had the COLD. And we still have it. The single digits. But I didn't start a blog to write about the cold. I want to begin to share with you...the love. (But first, I have to post a photo of my lawn ornament in the snow!)
I have discovered The Love Threshold web site. Arria Deepwater is the facilitator/creator. She is dedicated to bring love to the world, and I honor that. Once a month she gives absolutely FREE talks via the telephone, where she answers your questions about numerous topics. (She actually read mine on the line!!) And one Sunday a month, she gives a spiritual talk on the phone line, where she opens herself to Spirit and lets the words flow through her.
Where else can you get FREE spiritual love and advice? She is amazing. She GIVES free talks simply because she wants to spread love to everyone.
Arria is pleasant to listen to, and quite inspiring. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for peace, love, or a new positive adventure to link up with. www.lovethreshold.com

Welcome to my blog!!! It's a beautiful, dark, cold night in December. Tonite, the eve of my 52nd birthday seemed like a fetching time to begin chronologizing my life after half a century plus 2 years of this current life. (I know I could have said chronicling, but that's just not me.)
I live in Wisconsin, and as in most cold weather states, the news pretty much revolves around the weather. Yup, snow is coming, and it's coming soon. Tomorrow, in fact, and that means a couple of things to me (besides, it's time to break out the boots). The first thing that comes to mind is, "There go the pet grooming clients." The second would be, "There goes my tranquil day at home---ALONE-- because surely school will be closed, and my son and partner, a teacher, will be happily imprinting on my peace."
Even despite those two factors, it's hard to resist anticipation the real first snowfall brings. Which leads me to a few more thoughts: Do we have enough food to eat, and do I have enough WINE?
Enough said, I plan to show you art of mine, art of others along with general objects, quotes, music and philosophies that I find pleasing to the senses. At this point in my life, I am searching for beauty, I've had 52 years of reality! Please enjoy the ride. -Nancy
